Negros village chief gunned down
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A barangay captain was shot dead in Isabela, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.
Danilo Dautil, 62, of Barangay Cabcab was driving his motorcycle when he was attacked. He was declared dead on arrival at the Ignacio Lopez Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital.
Capt. Joseph Partidas, Isabela police chief, noted that Barangay Cabcab was recently declared communist insurgency-free.
However, Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said it has yet to be established if communist rebels were behind the killing.
In Cavite, a construction worker was killed while his companion was wounded in a gun attack in Barangay Francisco Reyes in General Mariano Alvarez on Wednesday night, allegedly over a P1,700 debt.
Probers said the suspect, an alias Fajad, had a heated argument with Mario Napili, 66, and Marlon Napili, 35, over the latter’s unpaid debt and shot the victims several times.
Mario was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital.– Emmanuel Tupas
