San Juan rolls out second booster for priority groups

MANILA, Philippines — The San Juan government yesterday rolled out second booster shots for residents with comorbidities aged 18 to 49 and the general population aged 50 and above.

Mayor Francis Zamora said the vaccination of those belonging to the A3 category is being held on the third floor of VMall in Greenhills, one of the city’s inoculation sites.

The local government will be administering Pfizer vaccines for second booster and will prioritize city residents.

“We will open the second booster vaccination for non-residents soon,” Zamora said.

San Juan has 41,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine allocated for the booster shots.

Qualified second booster recipients are those who have received their COVID-19 jabs at least four months after the first booster.

According to the Department of Health, San Juan had administered booster shots to 94,000 people or 98 percent of its target population.

Zamora called on his constituents to avail themselves of second booster shots amid the rising cases of COVID-19 due to the highly transmissible Omicron subvariant BA.5.

San Juan is still offering first booster shots to residents and non-residents, he said.
