COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Six unlicensed rifles and a pistol were seized from a barangay chairman in Barira, Maguindanao on Friday.
Usop Sanggacala Aron of Barangay Ruminimbang is being held in a detention facility of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Brig. Gen. Arthur Cabalona of the BARMM police said Special Action Force commandos were part of the raiding team.
The CIDG-BARMM said five M16 rifles, an M14 and .380-caliber pistol were recovered in a raid on Aron’s house.
The suspect faces charges for illegal possession of firearms.
