CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Around 1,000 personnel of the Central Luzon police have been dispatched to Metro Manila for the inauguration of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. today.
Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, Central Luzon police director, said members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and provincial and city police offices would serve as augmentation forces.
He said most of the policemen are from civil disturbance management units in Bulacan, Bataan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.
“I instructed all provincial and city police directors to monitor any group that will pass their area of responsibility,” Baccay said.
In Bulacan, checkpoints were set up at entrance and exit points to Metro Manila to prevent troublemakers before and during the inauguration.
Col. Charlie Cabradilla, acting Bulacan police director, said dedicated border control points were put up in San Jose del Monte, Meycauayan and Obando; at the boundary of San Miguel, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija, as well as at various police stations.
He said intelligence monitoring was intensified to prevent possible attacks to embarrass the incoming administration.
