Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Over 30,000 jobs are available for Filipino workers in Israel, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) reported last week.

The POEA said aside from 400 tourism workers, Israel is also hiring Filipino caregivers.

“We have a bilateral labor agreement with Israel. Ang slots doon ay 35,000 jobs for our overseas Filipino workers. We have deployed over 2,000 OFWs and 2,600 more are waiting for deployment,” POEA chief Bernard Olalia said.

He said the first batch of 61 Filipino hotel workers who were recruited before the pandemic arrived in Israel last week.

“Sila ‘yung na-delay ang deployment because of the pandemic at may susunod pang 400 OFWs,” Olalia said.

Aside from Israel, the POEA said other countries have reopened their doors to Filipino workers.

Among the markets for OFWs are Australia, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, New Zealand, Romania, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Taiwan.

The Philippines has not resumed the deployment of construction workers and domestic helpers to Saudi Arabia.
