2 held for weapons, grenade in Pasig
MANILA, Philippines — Two men were arrested in Pasig for allegedly violating the election gun ban after being caught with various weapons, including a hand grenade, police said yesterday.
Jezreel Bierra, 33, was apprehended as he was walking along along Farmers Avenue in Barangay Malinao on Monday with a handgun tucked into his waistband, city police chief Col. Roman Arugay said.
Police said when Bierra failed to show documents for the gun, they started to frisk him, during which they also found a hand grenade inside his sling bag.
On Sunday afternoon, police arrested Christian Tuzo, 30, after Barangay Rosario’s security force reported that he had been wreaking havoc in a drunken fit, hurling objects at passersby.
The suspect, who was allegedly carrying a kitchen knife, was arrested by responding officers. He is facing alarm and scandal charges.
The violators are being held for violating the election gun ban, which started on Jan. 9 and would end on June 8.
