BACOLOD CTIY, Philippines — Ten persons were rescued after a motor boat capsized in the waters off San Carlos City in Negros Occidental yesterday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The PCG said bad weather brought by localized thunderstorms caused the boat to sink.
The incident compelled authorities to suspend sea travel between San Carlos City and Sipaway Island.
The suspension was lifted later in the day upon the recommendation of the Hazard Monitoring Team, which was supported by the PCG-San Carlos City Substation and Task Force Bantay Dagat.
Authorities cited improved weather conditions for lifting the travel suspension.
The PCG imposed safety or precautionary measures such as wearing of life vests and no overloading.
