Bagong Henerasyon party-list kicks off campaign

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — House Deputy Speaker Bernadette Herrera has vowed to continue public service to uplift the lives of Filipinos as she led the BH Bagong Henerasyon party-list in launching its reelection campaign in Quezon City earlier this week.

Herrera said their group will carry on with its mission of producing vital pieces of legislation and providing social services to families in need if given another three years to serve in Congress.

“We have done a lot, especially in the last how many years, but there’s more we can do to improve the quality of life of the people we represent,” Herrera said after leading the campaign kickoff held at Barangay Masambong in Diliman on Tuesday.

Herrera said Bagong Henerasyon will remain “the voice of women and youth, as well as micro, small and medium enterprises in Congress.”

Herrera authored several laws that significantly affect women, one of which is the 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Act.

Herrera co-authored the Bayanihan laws that granted President Duterte additional authority to combat COVID-19 and provided for pandemic response and recovery interventions.

She also co-authored landmark legislation such as the Free College Education Law, Medical Scholarship Law, Universal Health Care Act, and Ease of Doing Business Act.
