2 hurt as fire hits warehouse

MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were injured when a fire struck a warehouse in San Juan City before dawn yesterday.

Arson probers identified the victims as Eldrin John Mamaril, a security guard, and Agustin Magtanan, a stay-in worker at the warehouse located along J. Ruiz street in Barangay Salapan.

Mamaril was taken to a hospital for treatment of first-degree burns.

Magtanan suffered a broken ankle after he jumped off the warehouse. He was given first aid treatment by rescuers of the city government.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze broke out at past 3 a.m. and reached second alarm before it was contained at around 6 a.m.

The BFP said it has yet to determine the cause of the fire.

In Valenzuela City, a fire hit a junk shop in Barangay Lingunan yesterday.

The fire that razed a junk shop along Rubber Master Road reached first alarm at around 10 a.m. and third alarm before noon, according to the BFP.

The fire was put out at around 5 p.m.
