MANILA, Philippines — The Twitter account of the Office of Civil Defense, which is among the social media platforms being used by the OCD to make disaster-related announcements and public advisories, has been hacked.

The OCD assured the public that its services are not affected by the supposed cyber attack.

Information technology specialists are working to get the OCD’s Twitter account back to normal, the agency said.

“We regret to inform the public that the Civil Defense PH Twitter account has been hacked,” the OCD said. “This is the reason why unusual tweets referring to matters not related to the country’s disaster risk reduction and management system had been appearing on the social media platform.”

The OCD is the civil defense arm of the Department of National Defense.
