MANILA, Philippines — There is no decision yet from President Duterte if he will appoint outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, who is set to retire on Nov. 13, to another government post, Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano said yesterday.

“Wala pa naman na na-mention si PRRD tungkol diyan (PRRD has not made mention of the matter),” he said in a Viber message.

Eleazar, Duterte’s sixth PNP chief, improved the image of the police force, which has been accused of committing human rights abuses in the enforcement of the Chief Executive’s war on drugs.

Duterte has appointed three of his police chiefs to other government posts. They are Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, whom he designated as director of the Bureau of Corrections, and Camilo Pancratius Cascolan and Debold Sinas as undersecretaries.

Eleazar said he intends to spend more time with his family after he bows out of the service in a few days.
