MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go continues to provide support to communities in distress amid the challenges the country is facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday, Go emphasized the government’s continued support for Filipinos in a message delivered during his visits to Barangays Cabantian and Indangan in Davao City to conduct relief efforts.

The senator’s team distributed food packs, snacks, face masks, face shields and vitamins to 1,000 residents. Some beneficiaries brought home new pairs of shoes and bicycles.

Go distributed computer tablets to select recipients to aid their children during their classes under the blended learning setup.

“Kami ni Presidente Duterte, hindi kami titigil sa pagseserbisyo. Binigyan kami ng pagkakataon ng Diyos na magserbisyo sa inyong lahat at sa buong Pilipinas. Hindi namin ito sasayangin. Ibabalik namin sa inyo ang serbisyo na para sa tao, ibabalik namin sa inyo,” said Go.

He urged recipients and their loved ones with health concerns to seek medical assistance at the Malasakit Center at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

As chair of the Senate committee on health and demography, Go said he made it a priority to give Filipinos quick access to a high quality health care system, and prompted him to author and push for the passage of the Malasakit Centers Act.

The law mandates the establishment of a Malasakit Center in every Department of Health-run hospital as well as the Philippine General Hospital to ensure that poor and impoverished patients receive the care they require.

On Sept. 17, Go personally visited residents of Barangays Mudiang and Buhangin Proper, also in Davao City, and distributed similar assistance.
