More LGUs defer school opening due to COVID-19
PANGASINAN, Philippines — After Dagupan City, the municipal governments of Binalonan and Villasis, both in Pangasinan, also deferred the opening of classes to prevent the spread of COVID.
Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico Jr. issued an order moving the school opening from yesterday to Oct. 4.
Guico said there was a need to postpone the school opening to reduce the risk of teachers and parents’ exposure to the disease.
He said the town’s COVID cases increased in the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, Villasis Mayor Nonato Abrenica also moved the school opening to Oct. 4 due to the health crisis.
Nonato said the suspension would give teachers the chance to have themselves vaccinated before classes start.
