DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — At least 457 hogs affected by African swine fever (ASF) in Vigan City and Sta. Catalina town in Ilocos Sur have been culled as of Thursday.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Ilocos regional executive director Nestor Domenden said a majority of the culled pigs were in Vigan.
Teams from the DA regional office and Bureau of Animal Industry said they are prioritizing disinfection within the 125-meter radius of the index cases.
The ASF outbreak in the two areas in Ilocos Sur were reported on Friday last week.
