MANILA, Philippines — At least 533 households in Pasay were placed under granular lockdown due to a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in these areas, the city government said yesterday.

According to Pasay’s epidemiology and surveillance unit, the households, located across 125 barangays or 62 percent of the city’s 201 barangays, were put under localized enhanced community quarantine.

As of Aug. 30, only 43 barangays in Pasay were free of COVID-19.

Granular lockdowns are being implemented in areas in Metro Manila with a high risk of transmission of COVID-19 cases.

Pasay recorded 105 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, tallying a total of 17,446 cases, with 16,054 recoveries and 446 deaths.

The city has 946 active cases as of Monday.

As of yesterday morning, the Pasay City General Hospital reported being “more than 100 percent occupied” by adult COVID-19 admissions. Only a pediatric bed and an OB-Gyn bed remain for COVID patients, the hospital said.
