Woman nabbed for alleged extortion of mayor

MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested in Juban, Sorsogon on Monday for allegedly extorting money from a mayor.

Police said Kristine Kate Rivera, 18, was apprehended in an entrapment in Barangay Bibincahan at around 1:10 p.m.

Juban Mayor Antonio Alindogan, 56, said Rivera initially asked for P20,000 in exchange ”for not creating a scandalous issue” about him.

Alindogan said he gave the money, but Rivera asked for an additional P100,000.

The woman is being held on charges of robbery extortion.
