PNP exec tagged in online seller’s kidnap-slay

MANILA, Philippines — A police colonel is being investigated in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a woman in Nueva Ecija.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said
investigators learned that the police official, whom he did not identify, is the owner of a farm in Barangay Imelda Valley in Palayan City, where the charred remains of online seller Nadia Casar were recovered on Sunday.

“Bahagi rin po ng investigation natin yun. Aalamin po natin yan,”
Eleazar said in an interview over dzRH.

The farm’s caretaker, Dario Robarios, who is among the suspects, is under police custody.

Two police officers tagged in the killing have surrendered.

Senior M/Sgt. Rowen Martin, 41, surrendered to the Cabanatuan City
police station at around 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

Martin was accompanied by his lawyer when he turned himself in to
Cabanatuan police chief Lt. Col. Ceazar Manucdoc.

Senior S/Sgt. Drextemir Esmundo surrendered to authorities in Santiago, Isabela, according to Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon.

Senior S/Sgts. June Malilin and Benedict Reyes and Col. Julius Alcantara along with Robarios and Franklin Macapagal have been arrested.

Casar and a Grab driver she hired were kidnapped in Sta. Rosa town on July 20.

The suspects took the driver’s cell phone and P4,500 in cash and
released him the following day.
