NPA camp seized in Kabankalan

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Army soldiers overran a suspected lair of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental on Thursday.

Maj. Cenon Pancito, 3rd Infantry Division spokesman, said personnel of the 94th Infantry Battalion seized the NPA camp following an encounter with rebels in Sitio Manulaya in Barangay Tan-awan.

An Army soldier was reported wounded in the clash.

Pancito said an M16 rifle, magazines with ammunition, bomb materials and personal belongings were recovered at the scene.
