Maj. Salvador Galvez, Police Station 5 commander, said the victims were on their way home after visiting their newly acquired lot when the attack occurred.

The assailants escaped on two motorcycles toward Barangay Putik.

Responding policemen said 16 bullet shells for a 9mm pistol and six for a caliber 5.56 were recovered at the scene.

Probers are eyeing either rido or clan war and a personal grudge as the motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, in Negros Occidental, also on Thursday, Ermelito Desamparado had just picked up his wife Melanie at the Molocaboc wharf in Sagay City at around 6:30 p.m. when they were gunned down. – Gilbert Bayoran
