Navotas, Muntinlupa centenarians get COVID-19 jabs

MANILA, Philippines — Two centenarians from Navotas and Muntinlupa have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Dominga Santiago, 101, of Barangay Navotas West, has completed her two doses of AstraZeneca jabs, according to the city government.

Sitting in a wheelchair, Santiago was vaccinated at the San Jose Academy School in Navotas, Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Maria Rosario Mañas, 102, of Barangay Cupang in Muntinlupa, received her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while in her car at the parking area of the Festival Supermall yesterday.

The local governments of Navotas and Muntinlupa urged the public, especially the elderly to get vaccinated.

PNP virus death toll hits 71

Meanwhile, another police officer has died of COVID-19, bringing to 71 the number of deaths in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP has yet to release details about the latest COVID-19 fatality in the police force.

The PNP recorded yesterday 164 new cases of COVID-19.

As of Monday, the national police has registered 1,865 active cases of COVID-19 and 23,930 recoveries.

Police personnel with COVID-like symptoms can reach out to the PNP Health Service.
