Quakes jolt Surigao
MANILA, Philippines — Earthquakes rocked Surigao del Norte yesterday, but there were no reports of damage or injuries, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
A magnitude-5.1 quake occurred at 11:20 a.m., with its epicenter located 29 kilometers northeast of Burgos town.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Burgos and Sta. Monica; Intensity 3 in Dapa, San Isidro and General Luna, all in Surigao Del Norte, and Intensity 2 in Hinunangan, Silago, Hinundayan, all in Southern Leyte; Surigao City and Socorro in Surigao del Norte.
Two tremors, measuring magnitude 4.9, also hit Burgos at 10:59 a.m. and 4:03 p.m.
The first quake occurred at 10:59 a.m. and was centered 15 km northeast of Burgos.
The second magnitude-4.9 temblor struck Burgos at 4:03 p.m. Its epicenter was located 33 km northeast of Burgos.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Burgos and Intensity 2 in San Francisco, Southern Leyte.
