Cops kill 2 in Caloocan shootout
MANILA, Philippines — Two armed men were killed in an alleged shootout with Highway Patrol Group (HPG) operatives in Caloocan City on Wednesday night.
The encounter occurred in Barangay 171 at around 11:30 p.m., according to HPG director Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum.
Tagum said police officers manning a checkpoint along Congressional Road Extension pulled over the motorcycle-riding suspects, Yukiro del Rosario and Clarence John Angelo Torno, for an inspection.
Instead of stopping, police said the duo pulled out handguns and fired at them.
Police pursued the suspects who were cornered along Mount Apo Drive where a shootout ensued.
Police said they recovered from the suspects a .45-caliber handgun, a .38-caliber revolver, mobile phones and identification cards.
The suspects’ remains were brought to a funeral parlor for autopsy.
