Marc Jayson Cayabyab - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The suspect in the killing of a barangay leader in Caloocan was killed in an alleged encounter with police on Sunday.

Anlou Resusta, 22, was shot dead after reportedly resisting arrest, police said.

Resusta was caught on closed-circuit television footage (CCTV) shooting barangay leader Augusto Romagosa on April 16 in Barangay 176, according to Caloocan police chief Col. Samuel Mina. Resusta’s cohort, Moises Reyes, remains at large.

Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has offered a P200,000 reward for the arrest of Alfredo Curita, one of the suspects in the killing 38-year-old truck driver Elbert Silva.

Police said Silva was shot dead by Curita’s cohort, Nestor Perez, along Zulueta street in Paco on April 19.

Perez was seen on CCTV footage fleeing the crime scene and handing his bag that contained the firearm to Curita, who fled on a motorcycle.

Perez was arrested by bystanders after the incident.
