Cops to train soldiers in crime scene investigation
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will train its counterparts in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the investigation and preservation of crime scenes.
Maj. Gen. Alfred Corpus, PNP Directorate for Operations head, said the training is part of their coordination activities with the military in addressing security threats.
He said soldiers should be trained in investigation and crime scene preservation in areas where “there have been armed encounters.”
“We need to train our soldiers so they would not contaminate evidence in a crime scene area,” Corpus said during a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday afternoon.
The military has been leading the campaign against New People’s Army rebels and other threat groups such as the Abu Sayyaf.
In return, the AFP will train police officers for capability enhancement such as in operating helicopters.
