Belmonte gets COVID-19 anew
MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.
In a statement, Belmonte said she manifested mild symptoms last night.
She is working remotely while on quarantine at the Hope community care facility in the city.
“Eight months after my first bout with COVID-19, I am very sad to report that I tested positive for the virus again,” Belmonte said. “Even after recovering from the disease last year and carefully observing precautions, my positive result is a reminder that there is no room for complacency when it comes to COVID.”
The mayor said she would follow the protocols set by the Department of Health and the city’s epidemiology office.
Belmonte urged those who had close contact with her to self-isolate.
