PNP COVID-19 cases rise 294%
MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police (PNP) increased by 294 percent this month.
This brings to 1,750 the active COVID-19 cases in the PNP compared to 444 on March 1.
“It’s an all-time high in active cases,” PNP deputy chief Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said.
Eleazar said the PNP logged 171 cases yesterday.
The highest number of active cases in the PNP was recorded on Sept. 15, 2020 at 1,439.
Of the 1,750 active cases, 588 or 33.6 percent are assigned at Camp Crame or police units under the National Capital Region Police Office.
The PNP has imposed measures to curb COVID infection among its ranks, including the suspension of command activities and its daily workouts.
