Caloocan honors fallen frontliners
MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan government will honor today the frontliners who died in the line of duty battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The local government will hold a two-minute noise barrage at noon today to honor the city’s frontliners, according to the public information office.
Two posthumous commemorations will be given to Teddie Balisi, an ambulance driver for the disaster risk reduction and management office, and Caloocan City Medical Center maintenance and utility head Fidel Pascua Jr.
The Caloocan Diocese will also join the noise barrage by ringing the bells of churches in the city.
The Frontliners’ Day will be first held today pursuant to an ordinance, which set aside funding to commemorate the event.
According to the ordinance, emergency response personnel, motorcycle delivery riders, supermarket workers and garbage collectors are considered as frontliners.
