Cop faces dismissal over indiscrimate firing

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer who allegedly fired his gun during a traffic dispute in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Friday is facing dismissal from the service.

S/Sgt. Ismael Dulin of the Dasmariñas police, was arrested following the incident that occurred in Barangay Zone 3.

Alfegar Triambulo, inspector general of the Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service, ordered Dulin investigated.

“We will conduct summary dismissal proceedings by Friday. The respondent received the notice directing him to submit his counter-affidavit within five days,” Triambulo said in a Viber message to The STAR yesterday.

Dulin was in his car when he allegedly hit another vehicle driven by Jelyn Masuecos.

The officer maneuvered his car to get out of the situation when he hit another vehicle driven by Victorino Go.

Dulin reportedly drew his gun and fired several shots, causing panic among the bystanders.

Responding police officers disarmed and arrested Dulin, who claimed he just defended himself against the bystanders who allegedly attacked him.
