Longer days ahead

Helen Flores (The Philippine Star) - March 3, 2021 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines — Days will be longer after the vernal equinox on March 20, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.

The vernal equinox marks the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the southern hemisphere, PAGASA said in its monthly astronomical diary.

On the day of the equinox, night and day are about the same length – 12 hours – all over the world.

There are two equinoxes every year, in March and September.
