PNP opens 2nd COVID-19 testing lab

MANILA, Philippines — The second molecular laboratory of the Philippine National Police (PNP) started its operations yesterday.

The laboratory is located at the headquarters of the Davao regional police office and will cater to PNP personnel based in Mindanao.

PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the laboratory could accommodate 170 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests per day.

The PNP ‘s first COVID testing laboratory is at Camp Crame.

Eleazar said four of 118 police personnel who underwent RT-PCR testing at the laboratory have tested positive for COVID-19.
