BI accepts alien registration applications
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration started on Friday accepting applications for this year’s alien registration, requiring foreigners to physically report to BI offices nationwide.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said this year’s 60-day registration will conclude on March 1, giving foreigners ample time to have themselves registered.
Morente said that under the Alien Registration Act of 1950, all those with immigrant and non-immigrant visas are required to report in person to the BI.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Morente urged foreigners to set an online appointment on the BI’s official website.
The BI will not allow foreigners to walk in without an appointment since there are only 800 slots for alien registration per day, he said.
