PAO chief’s nephew dies allegedly due to Dengvaxia

MANILA, Philippines — A 14-year-old nephew of Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta has died after reportedly given shots of the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia.

In a Facebook phost, Acosta said, “Rest in peace my nephew. Justice will be done.”

Alexis Sulit of the PAO forensic laboratory identified Acosta’s nephew as Sam Gabriel Mendoza, who died at the Maheseco Hospital in Bataan on Saturday.

Sulit said the PAO forensic team autopsied Mendoza’s remains yesterday.

He said the autopsy results showed similar findings with other children who have died after being inoculated with Dengvaxia.

Sulit said the cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, edema and pulmonary hemorrhage.

Acosta’s nephew was tagged as Dengvaxia victim #161.
