1 dead, 3 hurt in Benguet landslide

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — A laborer was buried alive while his three companions were seriously injured in a landslide in Barangay Loacan, Itogon, Benguet on Tuesday.

Police said Eugene Balao, 24, died at the scene.

Alexander Morca 52; Vincent Pal-a, 30, and Lordan Mayawen, 20, were taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

Reports said the victims were clearing a private lot with a bulldozer when the mountainside gave way due to continuous rains.
