No clues yet on ex-Jolo police chief’s slay

John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO MANILA, Philippines —  Authorities have yet to gather leads on the murder of a former chief of the Jolo police station in Sultan Mastura town in this province on Saturday.

Lt. Col. Walter Annayo died at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Annayo was the chief of the Jolo police when his men shot dead four Army intelligence officers – Maj. Marvin Indammog, Capt. Irwin Managuelod, Sgt. Eric Velasco and Cpl. Abdal Asula – in June this year.

The incident resulted in the relief of Annayo, who was tranferred to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region police in Parang town in this province, a month after the incident.

Annayo had just alighted from his car in Barangay Macabiso when another vehicle with the assailants on board pulled over and shot him.
