Man shot dead in Tondo; drugs eyed
MANILA, Philippines — Police are looking into illegal drugs as a possible motive for the killing of a 40-year-old man in Tondo, Manila on Friday.
The family of admitted that he had been involved in drugs, according to Capt. Henry Navarro, chief of the Manila Police District homicide unit.
Investigation showed that Bartolome was walking near the railroad tracks in Dagupan Extension, Barangay 185 when two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired at him several times.
The victim died at the scene from gunshots to the head. The assailants fled after making sure that Bartolome was dead.
Bartolome’s wife told probers that he had been arrested on drug charges. He was released from detention last August.
Navarro said they would coordinate with the barangay for possible closed-circuit television footage that could help identify the gunmen.
