39 more cops catch COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported 39 new coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 cases among its personnel on Saturday, bringing the total number of infections to 6,675.

Records showed a majority of the fresh cases came from the police regional offices, particularly in Central Luzon and Northern Mindanao with nine each.

The rest came from the Cordilleras and National Capital Region with four each, Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula with three each, Bangsamoro Region with two and Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) with one.

The PNP’s national operational support unit recorded four new cases.

Total recoveries within the force rose to 5,976 after 26 more personnel recovered from the disease, while the number of fatalities remain at 20.

PNP personnel with symptoms similar to COVID-19 have been advised to coordinate with the PNP Health Service.
