House logs 79th COVID-19 case
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives recorded yesterday its 79th case of coronavirus disease 2019 after another employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The employee is assigned with the protocol and special affairs service, according to House secretary general Jose Luis Montales.
Montales said the employee developed symptoms of the virus after being exposed to his mother.
Out of 79 COVID-19 cases, Montales said only 13 remain active.
Ten lawmakers have contracted COVID-19, including Senior Citizens party-list Rep. Francisco Datol and Sorsogon Rep. Ditas Ramos who both died of the disease.
5 BI detainees infected
Five foreigners being held at the detention facility of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Taguig City have been infected with COVID-19.
Immigration Deputy Commissioner Aldwin Alegre, who chairs the BI COVID Task Force, said the foreign detainees have shown mild symptoms and are recovering from the disease. – Robertzon Ramirez
