Quakes jolt Masbate, Davao Sur
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — More aftershocks of the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that hit Masbate on Aug. 18 struck the province since midnight yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the strongest was a magnitude 4.5, which occurred at around 12:05 p.m. and was centered in Cataingan town.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Cataingan, Dimasalang and Palanas in Masbate.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said a magnitude 3.8 quake rattled parts of Davao del Sur yesterday.
The temblor occurred at about 10:53 a.m., with its epicenter traced some 15 kilometers southwest of Bansalan town.
