Villar sets up handwash stations in crowded areas
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Cynthia Villar has set up portable handwashing stations in crowded areas such as tricycle terminals and markets.
Villar said yesterday the portable handwashing station features a stainless steel sink with a faucet and liquid soap dispenser. It is operated by a foot pedal for hands-free washing.
The station is connected to a water line and the liquid hand soap is provided by the barangay.
“We cannot overemphasize the fact that handwashing is the most effective way to slow down... COVID-19,” Villar said.
At least 50 stations have been set up in Las Piñas City alone. Villar said 10 more units will be installed in other areas.
The portable handwashing station is a project of Villar and her daughter, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar as a model that can be replicated by other local government units.
