Dismissal of cops tagged in slay of girl, 15, sought

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

ILOCOS, Philippines — The Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the Philippine National Police has recommended the dismissal of two police officers accused of killing a 15-year-old girl in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur last July.

The IAS said S/Sgts. Marawi Torda and Randy Ramos of the San Juan police were responsible for the death of the victim.

IAS inspector general Alfegar Triambulo said they submitted a copy of their recommendation to Gen. Archie Gamboa before he retired from the service.

Triambulo said he has yet to receive an update if Gamboa approved their resolution before the former police chief stepped down.

The two police officers allegedly shot the victim shortly after she and her cousin filed complaints for acts of lasciviousness and rape, respectively, on July 2.

The victims were arrested by the police officers for violating curfew rules after the girls attended a party.
