Las Piñas fire leaves 200 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — A fire razed around 150 houses at a compound in Barangay Zapote, Las Piñas yesterday morning and left at least 200 families homeless.

The fire reportedly started at a two-story house owned by Florentina delos Santos at around 10:13 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The flames spread to other houses at the Basa Dos compound and the fire reached Task Force Alpha at around 11:34 a.m.

Twenty-nine BFP firetruck crews and 18 firetrucks manned by volunteers responded to the incident.

The fire was declared under control around two hours after it started and was put out at around 1:45 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to the BFP, which added that no one was injured in the incident.
