CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A soldier was killed in an encounter with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Barangay Bulawen, San Marcelino, Zambales on Friday.
The military said the gunbattle, which started on Thursday, is ongoing at the boundary of Floridablaca in Pampanga and San Marcelino.
A total of 192 families or 659 members of an Aeta community were evacuated to a covered court in Barangay Aglao.
