MANILA, Philippines — An official of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra announced yesterday.
Guevarra did not disclose the identity of the official, who is undergoing quarantine.
The NBI has conducted contact tracing and disinfection to stop the spread of the virus, according to Guevarra.
“They have taken the necessary precautions, including closure of the NBI headquarters and contact tracing,” he said.
Earlier reports said an NBI detainee tested positive for the virus.
The detainee died on June 16, two days after he was brought to the hospital.
