MANILA, Philippines — The Manila city government yesterday opened another testing facility for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) using serology machines at the Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital.

This is the city’s third walk-in testing site, after the ones installed at the Quirino Grandstand and Bonifacio Monument where blood samples are taken for processing in hospitals.

Moreno said serology machines are also installed at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Sampaloc and Ospital ng Maynila.

The machines, which process blood samples to detect antibodies, have an accuracy rate of 99.6 percent. Those who test positive will have to undergo confirmatory reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction tests.

Meanwhile, Moreno questioned the organizers of the national government’s program of ferrying locally stranded individuals to the provinces after hundreds of LSIs crowded the Rizal Memorial Stadium, without social distancing measures.

“They have to rethink whatever they’re doing. The one we saw at the Rizal Coliseum was unacceptable,” he said.
