CAGAYAN, Philippines — An ambulance driver was arrested in Cagayan for ferrying hitchhikers in Tuguegarao City on Thursday.

Police said Jhunwin Agbayani, 34, picked up six people after transporting a couple and their newborn from the Cagayan Valley Medical Center and another patient from the Aparri District Hospital.

Agbayani was arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Casambalangan at around 10:30 p.m.

In Pangasinan, Marky Arky Idos, 28, was caught ferrying three passengers, who reportedly came from Quezon City in a Suzuki Alto but denied entry at a checkpoint in Sta. Barbara town.

An official of the rural health unit reportedly instructed Idos to pick up the passengers.
