BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan, Philippines – Two barangay captains in this town and a village councilman in Lingayen were apprehended for illegal gambling on Wednesday.
Police said Renato Soriano, 50, and Romeo Caranto, 57, of Barangays Tamaro and Banaban, respectively, yielded playing cards and P4,190 in bet money.
Barangay kagawad Ramy Reyes, 52, and Virginia Bustamante, 65, both residents of Barangay Aliwekwek, were caught playing tong-its. Bet money worth P30,640 and playing cards were reportedly recovered from the suspects.
