Magnitude 5 quake jolts Zambales

Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

ZAMBALES, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted Zambales yesterday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred at around 6 a.m., with its epicenter located some 123 kilometers southwest of San Antonio.

Phivolcs said the tremor was “unfelt,” but warned the public on aftershocks.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are common.
