3 die in Zambales vehicular mishap

IBA, Zambales, Philippines — Three persons died in a collision involving a tricycle and a Toyota Innova in this town on Saturday.

Tricycle driver Angelito Nuñez died at the scene while his passengers, Carlito Manuel and Vilma Nuñez, were declared dead on arrival at the Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital, according to a report from the Zambales police.

A third passenger, Bernardo Uncria, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of injuries.

Investigation showed the victims were traveling along the highway in Barangay San Agustin when they were hit by the Innova driven by businesswoman Florence Eclarino.

Reports said the Innova developed engine trouble, causing Eclarino to lose control of the wheel.

Eclarino and her four companions were not hurt in the incident. She surrendered to responding police officers.

On the same day, a nurse and an Indian national also died in separate vehicular accidents in Cagayan and Isabela, respectively.

Zedfrey Maguigad of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) died at the scene after his motorcycle crashed into a dump truck in Barangay Caritan Norte in Tuguegarao.

Probers said Maguigad was on his way to work when he figured in the accident at around 4 a.m.

Maguigad’s passenger Mark Allen Bacuyag was  taken to the CVMC for treatment of injuries.

Meanwhile, Pradiip Kumar, 42, was crossing the street in Cabagan, Isabela at past 7 p.m. when a car hit him.

Kumar died while being treated at the Milagros District Hospital. – With Ric Sapnu, Raymund Catindig
