MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) yesterday summoned Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board member Sandra Cam and seven others in connection with the killing of Batuan, Masbate vice mayor Charlie Yuson III last year.

Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera ordered Cam to appear at the DOJ during the preliminary investigation set on March 9.

State prosecutors also issued subpoenas for Cam’s son Marco Martin as well as the other respondents Nelson Cambaya, Junel Gomez, Juanito de Luna, Bradford Solis and Rigor de la Cruz.

The DOJ panel of prosecutors ordered the respondents to answer the complaint for murder and frustrated murder filed against them.

Yuson was shot dead while having breakfast with Wilfredo Pineda and Alberto Alforte in Sampaloc, Manila on Oct. 10, 2019.

Pineda and Alforte were wounded in the gun attack.

Yuson’s wife, Lalaine, accused Cam of masterminding his death over politics.

Yuson’s son, Charmax Jan Yuson, defeated Martin for mayor of Masbate in the last elections.

Lalaine claimed that the gunmen were previously spotted in Cam’s resort in Masbate.

Cam has denied the allegations against her.
