Church exec tags kin in campaign vs Quiboloy

MANILA, Philippines — An official of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ yesterday tagged her brother, who was a former KJC executive, behind what she described as efforts to destroy the reputation of the religious sect’s leader Apollo Quiboloy.

Ingrid Canada, KJC chief administrator, accused her brother Gregorio Canada and his family of being behind what she said was a smear campaign against Quiboloy, who has been the subject of various investigations of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) since 2018.

“We have reasonable grounds to believe that he and/or his immediate family are in connivance with some people who are out to demolish the reputation of our Beloved Pastor,” Ingrid said in a statement. 

“The FBI should have consulted us first because the KJC has been fully cooperating with the American government,” she said.

In February 2018, the FBI seized and later returned Quiboloy’s private jet in Honolulu after they found $350,000 in cash stashed in socks and rifle parts.

On Jan. 31, federal agents raided a KJC church in Los Angeles, California and arrested three officials on alleged immigration fraud charges.

Last year, a former follower filed rape, child abuse and human trafficking complaints against Quiboloy in Davao City.

KJC officials said the complainant was merely getting back at Quiboloy after she was sued for libel by the church, and was being funded by a rival group.
